At Price & Buckland environmental responsibilities are high on our agenda. We’re currently engaged in a full audit of our current practices and we’re working hard to reduce our carbon footprint.

Environmental and social principles are fundamental to the work of Price & Buckland and this policy sets out our commitment to reducing our environmental impact. None of these objectives can be achieved overnight but we feel that by setting ourselves targets for the future we can demonstrate our commitment to the environment.

We’re committed to complying with all environmental laws and regulations and ensure that our suppliers comply with the requirements of environmental legislation and approved codes of practice. We have recently conducted a walk round sustainability survey of our premises to assess any environmental impact and inefficiencies.

Production




We’re currently conducting a review of the lifecycle of our products and assessing how much energy and raw resources are used at each stage and how much waste and pollution is created by the production and distribution of our school uniform. We will then see if there are any better alternatives.

Packaging




We aim to keep packaging to a minimum both when transporting garments to the UK and when dispatching orders out to customers. We save and re-use any boxes, packets, plastic bags or envelopes which are in good condition. Any packaging that cannot be reused is recycled.

Water and Energy




We recently reviewed how easy it is for our customers to care for the garments they purchase from us. As a result, we reduced the need for washing at high temperatures which reduces costs and energy consumed. We’re in the process of appointing an Energy Champion to find new ways we can reduce energy use internally.



Waste and Pollution




As well as recycling all waste paper, packaging paper and ink cartridges we also donate any old stock and seconds to The Red Cross who distribute to them needy causes overseas. We’ve recently begun to e-mail statements and invoices to schools as we’re keen to reduce the amount of paperwork schools receive each term. E-mailing also cuts down on the number of envelopes used and fewer items in the post means less deliveries therefore reducing the carbon emissions of the postal vans that deliver them.
